You do not need a big website. One simple page is enough. Show what you sell, your photos, your hours and a button to call you. Then add the link to your Google listing.
A woman finds your salon on Google Maps. She likes the photos. She taps "Website" to see your prices. Nothing opens. So she taps the next salon instead.
This happens every day. A website is often the last thing a customer checks before they call.
Why one page is enough
Most customers want only a few things. What do you sell? What does it cost? Where are you? When are you open? How do they reach you?
All of this fits on one page. You can make it in one afternoon.
Did Google make a website for you before? Google used to make simple sites for shops, with an address ending in "business.site". Google shut these down in 2024 (TechRadar). If your listing still shows that old address, customers see an error page. You need a new site.
Seven steps you can do this week
1. Write down what goes on the page
Take a sheet of paper. Write these down:
- Your shop name, the way customers say it.
- Three to five things you sell or do, with prices if you can.
- Your full address and a nearby landmark.
- Your opening hours for each day of the week.
- Your phone number and WhatsApp number.
Keep it short. One line for each thing is fine.
2. Take five good photos
Use your phone, in daylight. Take one photo of the front of your shop. Take one of the inside. Take three of your best work or products.
Clean the space first. Do not add text on the photos.
3. Pick a simple website builder
A website builder lets you make a page without writing code. You pick a design and type your words in.
Google Sites comes with any Google account (Google). Google also listed Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Shopify and WordPress when it closed its old shop sites (TechRadar).
Pick one and stick with it. Check the plan's price before you start.
4. Build your one page
Open your builder and choose a plain design. Then add these parts, top to bottom:
- Your shop name and one line about what you do.
- A big "Call us" button and a "WhatsApp us" button.
- Your photos.
- What you sell, with prices.
- Your address, a map and your hours.
Use the same name, address and phone number as on your Google listing. If they differ, customers get confused.
5. Check it on your phone
Most of your customers will open the page on a phone. So open it on yours.
Can you read it without zooming? Does the call button work when you tap it? Does the map open? Ask a friend to try it too.
6. Think about your own web address
A builder gives you an address like "sites.google.com/view/yourshop". That works.
Your own address, like "yourshop.in", is easier to remember. You buy it from a domain seller every year. Most builders let you connect it (Google). You can do this later.
7. Add the link to your Google listing
This step matters most. Sign in with the Google account that manages your listing. Open your Business Profile and choose Edit profile. Find the website field and paste your full address, starting with "https://". Then tap Save (Google).
Also put the link in your WhatsApp Business profile, your Instagram bio and on your bills.
What not to do
- Do not copy text or photos from another shop's site. Use your own words and photos.
- Do not use a different phone number on the site. Keep it the same as on Google.
- Do not leave old details up. Change your hours and prices when they change.
- Do not leave the builder's sample text. Words like "Lorem ipsum" or "Your text here" make the shop look closed.
What "fixed" looks like
After a week, check these things.
- Your Google listing shows a website, and it opens.
- The page loads fast on a phone.
- The call and WhatsApp buttons work.
- Your name, address, phone and hours match your Google listing.
When something changes in your shop, change the page the same day.

FAQ
Do I need a big website with many pages?
No. For most shops, one clear page is enough.
Can I make the page on my phone?
You can, but a laptop is easier for the first build. After that, small changes on the phone are fine.
My Google listing shows an old "business.site" address. What do I do?
Google closed those sites in 2024. Make a new page, then change the website link on your listing.
Should I put prices on the page?
Yes, if you can. Customers like to know the cost before they call.
How long does it take?
Most owners can finish one page in an afternoon, once the photos and details are ready.
