You paid for a website. But if your Google listing does not link to it, many customers will never see it. Google is where many people find you first. Add your website link to your listing, then tap it once to test it.
Arjun runs a coaching centre for school students. His nephew made him a good website last year. It shows the batches, the fees and the teachers.
Parents kept calling him with the same questions. "What are the batch timings? What are the fees?"
All of that was on his website. But his Google listing had no website link. Parents found his listing, but not his site.
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
First, get the right address
You need the full address of your own website. For example, www.yourshopname.in.
- Open your website on your phone.
- Copy the address from the top of the screen.
- Make sure the page opens, and it is your current site.
Use your own website. A link to your Instagram page is a different thing. See how to link Instagram and your Google listing for that.
No website yet? A simple one page site can help. See a one page site for your shop.
Fix it yourself
- Open your Business Profile. You can search for your business name on Google while signed in.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Find Contact, then Website (Google).
- Paste your website address.
- Save.
Google may take some time to show the change.
Then test it
- Open Google Maps on your phone.
- Search for your business name.
- Tap Website.
Does your site open? Is it the right one? If yes, you are done.
If it does not open, see what to do when your website link on Google does not open.
Make your website help too
Once people reach your site, it should show your hours, phone and address clearly. Our guide on a website that opens but loses customers shows what to check.
Common questions
My website was made on a website builder app. Can I still link it?
Yes. Any website of your own that opens can be linked.
Should I link my Justdial or Swiggy page instead?
No. The website box is for your own site. If you have no site, leave it empty for now.
Will a website link bring more customers?
Nobody can promise that. But it lets people who want to know more find the answers.
