When reviews near you complain about the quality of work, customers get nervous about trying someone new. If your work is good, show it. Add photos of jobs you finished recently to your listing. Real photos of real work build trust.
Lakshmi runs a tailoring shop in a residential area. Reviews of tailors nearby said "fitting was wrong" and "stitching came open".
Lakshmi is careful with every blouse and kurta. But her listing had no photos of her work at all.
She started taking a photo of each finished piece, with the customer's OK. Every week she added a few to her listing.
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
- Check your own reviews first. If your customers also complain about your work, fix that before you post.
- Photograph finished work. A finished haircut, a repaired phone, a painted wall, a stitched dress.
- Ask before you include a person. Get the customer's OK. Do not show faces without it.
- Use daylight and a plain background. Clear and simple works best. No heavy filters.
- Add the photos to your listing. Our guide on adding photos to your Google listing shows how.
- Add a few every week. Fresh photos show you are busy and careful today.
- List what you do. Name your services clearly. Our services list guide shows how.
Rules to keep
- Use only your own work. Never use photos from the internet or another shop.
- Do not edit photos to make the work look better than it is.
- Never say another shop does poor work.
Common questions
Can I show before and after photos?
Yes, if both are real and from the same job. Ask the customer first.
I do not have good photos of old work. What now?
Start today. Photograph your next few jobs. That is enough to begin.
Will photos bring more customers?
Nobody can promise that. They help a customer see your work before they trust you.
