When reviews near you complain about cleanliness, customers start to worry about every place. If yours is clean, show it. Add new, real photos of your clean kitchen, counter or seating to your listing. A photo says more than any promise.
Farhan runs a chaat and juice corner near a school. Reviews of stalls nearby said "dirty glasses" and "flies everywhere".
Farhan washes his counter every hour and uses covered jars. But his only Google photo was a dark one from three years ago.
He took new photos in daylight. His steel counter, covered jars, and the water filter. He added them to his listing.
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
- Check your own reviews first. If your customers also mention dirt, clean up before you take photos.
- Clean, then shoot in daylight. Take photos when the place is ready for customers.
- Show what customers care about. Your kitchen or work area, counter, tables, water, washroom if you have one.
- Show real people at work. Staff with caps, gloves or clean uniforms, if you use them. Ask before you photograph anyone.
- Add the photos to your listing. Our guide on adding photos to your Google listing shows how.
- Add new photos every month. Fresh photos show the place is clean today, not years ago.
Rules to keep
- Use only your own photos. Never use photos from the internet or another shop.
- Do not edit photos to hide dirt. Clean the place instead.
- Never say another place is dirty.
Common questions
I have a food licence. Should I show it?
You can add a clear photo of your licence on the wall, if it is valid.
My shop is small and old. Will photos still help?
Yes. Clean and tidy matters more than new. Show it as it really is.
Will clean photos bring more customers?
Nobody can promise that. They help a worried customer feel safe choosing you.
