When reviews near you complain about food, customers want to see what they will get before they come. If your food is good, show it. Add new, real photos of your dishes to your listing. Show the food the way it really comes to the table.
Prakash runs a small biryani place near an office area. Reviews of places nearby said "biryani was dry" and "small portion".
Prakash's biryani comes in a full handi with raita. But his Google photos were blurry and old.
He took clear photos of his biryani, his thali and his kebabs. He shot them by the window at lunchtime and added them to his listing.
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
- Check your own reviews first. If your customers also complain about food, fix the dish before you post.
- Photograph your top dishes. The ones people order again and again.
- Shoot near a window in daylight. Clean the plate. Take the photo from just above the table.
- Show the real portion. Use the same plate and amount a customer gets.
- Add the photos to your listing. Our guide on adding photos to your Google listing shows how.
- Add your menu too. Name each dish clearly. See our prices guide.
- Add new photos every month. Fresh photos show the food is good today.
Rules to keep
- Use only photos of your own food. Never use photos from the internet or another place.
- Do not make portions look bigger than they are.
- Never say another place's food is bad.
Common questions
I do not have a good camera. Is my phone enough?
Yes. A clean phone lens and daylight are enough.
Should I show the kitchen too?
If it is clean, yes. It helps customers trust the food. See our cleanliness guide.
Will food photos bring more customers?
Nobody can promise that. They help a hungry customer see what they will get.
