When a place near you stops selling an item, its customers start looking elsewhere. If you sell that item, make it easy to find. Show it on your listing with a photo and a price. Tell your own customers you have it. Never speak about the other shop.
Anil runs a dairy and sweets shop in a colony. A shop nearby stopped selling fresh paneer.
Anil makes fresh paneer every morning. But his listing did not mention it at all.
He added paneer to his products with a photo and price. He sent a short WhatsApp message to his regular customers: "Fresh paneer every morning."
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
- Check if you really sell it. And check that you can keep it in stock.
- Add it to your listing. Open your Business Profile and tap Edit profile. Look for Products, Menu or Services. Our services list guide shows how.
- Add a real photo and price. Your own item, your real price. See our prices guide.
- Post about it. One short post saying you have it. Our guide on posting on your Google listing shows how.
- Tell your own customers. Send it on WhatsApp to people who already message you.
- Keep it in stock. New customers who come for it should find it. See our stock guide.
Rules to keep
- Never say "they stopped, come to us". Talk only about your shop.
- Never name or criticise the other shop.
- Never post an item you do not really have.
Common questions
Should I start selling the item they dropped?
Only if your customers want it and you can keep it in stock. They may have dropped it for a reason.
Should I raise the price now that they stopped?
That is your choice. A fair price keeps new customers coming back.
Will this bring their customers to me?
Nobody can promise that. It helps someone looking for that item find you.
