Many people look for a business inside an app, not on Google. Similar businesses near you may be on that app. If you are not, those people may never see you. Pick the right apps, keep your papers ready, and use the same details as Google.
Fatima runs a small biryani kitchen. Her Google listing is good. Her regulars love her.
One day her nephew searched for biryani on a food app near her shop. Five kitchens showed up. Hers was not one of them.
"People here order on the app," he said. "They do not know you exist."
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
1. Pick the right apps. Food places often use Zomato and Swiggy. Many shops and services use Justdial. Salons and clinics may use a booking app. Start with one or two. 2. Keep your papers ready. An app may ask for some of these: - your FSSAI licence, if you sell food, - your GST number, - your PAN, - your bank account details, - clear photos of your shop and what you sell. 3. Find the app's page for business owners. Open the app or its website. Look for a part for partners, owners or business listing. 4. Sign up with your shop phone number. You will get an OTP. Type it yourself. Never share it with anyone. 5. Use your Google details. Type the same shop name, address, phone and hours as your Google listing. 6. Add good photos. Our guide on adding photos shows what to shoot. 7. Check your page when it goes live. Search for your shop in the app. Check that every detail is right.
Do not forget Bing and Apple Maps too. See Bing Places and Apple Maps.
Already on a delivery app?
Your Pulse check may show a delivery listing you already have. Open it and look at it like a customer. Are the photos, menu and hours the same as Google? Is the rating there lower? If so, read the reviews there and fix what people complain about.
Common questions
Is it hard to get listed?
It takes some time. Each app checks your papers before your page goes live.
Will being on an app bring orders?
Nobody can promise that. But people who only order on that app can now find you.
Should I join every app?
No. Join the apps your customers use. Keep each one right.
