A customer on your website is often ready to act. They want one tap to call you, WhatsApp you, order or book. If they have to hunt for your number, many give up. Put one clear button at the top of your page.
Farhan runs a tailoring shop. His website has nice photos of his work.
A man liked a kurta on the site and wanted to ask the price. He scrolled up and down. He found no number and no WhatsApp. He closed the page and messaged another tailor from Instagram.
This is an example, with a made up name and business.
Fix it yourself
- Pick what goes at the top. Choose one or two of these: a Call button, a WhatsApp button, an Order or Book button. Keep it simple.
- Make the call button. In your website builder, add a button. Set its link to "tel:+91" and then your ten digit number, with no spaces.
- Make the WhatsApp button. Set its link to "https://wa.me/91" and then your ten digit number, with no spaces. Use your WhatsApp Business number if you have one.
- Add an order or booking link, if you take them. Link to your own booking page or your page on a food ordering app. Our guide on Book and Order buttons explains which links work well.
- Put the buttons where people see them. Place them at the top of the page. Add them again near the bottom.
- Use the same number everywhere. Your website, your Google listing and your bills should match. See how to fix your phone number on Google and other apps.
- Test every button on your phone. Tap each one. Does it call you? Does WhatsApp open a chat with you? Ask a friend to try too.

Common questions
I already show my number at the bottom. Is that enough?
It helps, but many people never scroll that far. A button at the top is easier. A number people can tap is easier than one they must copy.
Who answers the WhatsApp messages?
You or your staff. Only add the button if someone will reply. A chat nobody answers can lose a customer.
Will these buttons bring more orders?
Nobody can promise that. They make it easier for a customer who already wants to reach you.
