One small slip in your hours can make Google show something strange. For example, open from 9:30 in the morning until 9 the next morning. Or closing at 2 am on one day only. Customers see it. Find the wrong day and fix it.

Suresh runs a car wash on the main road. He keeps the same hours every day, 9 am to 9 pm.

When he set up his listing, he typed his Sunday hours in a hurry. He picked "am" in place of "pm" for the closing time.

So for Sunday, Google showed him open from 9 am until 9 the next morning.

A driver once came at midnight. The gate was shut.

This is an example, with a made up name and business.

What a slip looks like

These are signs that a day has a typo:

  • A closing time the next morning. For example, 9:30 am to 9:00 am.
  • One late night that does not match the rest. For example, 9 pm every day, but 2 am on Sunday.
  • A day much longer than you could stay open. Like 20 hours or more.

Some businesses really do stay open past midnight, like some restaurants and gyms. If that is you, your hours may be fine. If not, it is likely a slip.

Fix it yourself

Step 1: look at every day

  1. Open Google Maps on your phone.
  2. Search for your business name.
  3. Tap the hours under the name. Read each day slowly.

Step 2: fix the wrong day

  1. Open your Business Profile. You can search for your business name on Google while signed in.
  2. Tap Edit profile, then Hours (Google).
  3. Find the day that looks wrong.
  4. Set the right close time. Check "am" and "pm".
  5. Save.

Google may take some time to show the change.

Step 3: check it again

Open Google Maps again after a few days. Read every day once more.

If a day changes back on its own, fix it again. Our guide on a shop Google shows as closed explains edits by others.

Common questions

I do stay open late on weekends. Is that a problem?

No. If those are your real hours, keep them. Just make sure they are typed right.

How did this happen if I did not change anything?

It may be an old slip, or an edit someone else suggested. Either way, you can fix it.

Will fixing my hours bring more customers?

Nobody can promise that. But wrong hours can send people at the wrong time.
