Guide cover: ten minutes a week on your Google listing, a simple routine that keeps customers coming

Your Google listing is not a one-time job. Customers see it every day, and it goes stale fast. Give it ten minutes every week: check your hours, add one photo, reply to new reviews, fill in what customers ask and post one update. Shops that keep their listing fresh look open and cared for.

Fatima runs a dairy shop in a busy market: milk, curd, paneer. She made her Google listing two years ago and never opened it again.

Her shop delivers, takes UPI and is open till 10 pm. Her listing says none of this. A customer asks Google Maps if her shop delivers. Google answers from what listings and reviews say, and her listing says nothing. The customer picks the dairy whose listing says "Home delivery".

Scan your business. See how visible you are online. Do customers nearby find you, or the shop next door? Check your online visibility with Viabe Pulse. In minutes, not days.

The ten-minute routine

Pick one day, for example every Monday morning before you open. Open your listing on Google Maps or in the Google Business Profile app.

1. Check your hours (1 minute). Are the opening and closing times right? Add special hours for holidays before they come.

2. Add one new photo (2 minutes). A new product, your counter, your shopfront in daylight. One real photo a week shows you are open and active.

3. Reply to every new review (3 minutes). Thank happy customers by name. For an unhappy one, say sorry, and say what you will do. Keep it short and polite.

4. Fill in what customers ask (1 minute). Do you deliver? Take UPI? Have parking? Put these in your listing's details and description. Google now answers some customer questions on Maps with AI, using what your listing says.

5. Post one update (2 minutes). A new stock, an offer, a change in timing. Write two lines and add a photo.

6. Check your phone number and address (1 minute). Make sure the number rings and the pin is at your door.

Once a month

Search for your trade and your area on Google, like "dairy near Sadar Bazaar". See which shops show first. Look at what they have that you do not: more photos, more reviews, newer replies.

Why it works

Google wants to show shops that look open and correct. Customers want the same. A listing with fresh photos, right hours and recent replies tells both of them that you are here and ready.

Fatima now checks her listing every Monday. It takes her ten minutes with her morning tea.
