If your map pin is in the wrong place, customers who use Maps walk to the wrong spot. Many give up and go to the shop they can see. Move your pin to your door on Google, then check every other app that lists you. It takes about 15 minutes.
Sunil runs a mobile repair shop in a busy market. His shop is in the second lane. On Google Maps, his pin sits in the main road, 150 metres away.
A customer with a broken phone follows the map. She reaches the main road and sees no repair shop. She sees another repair shop right in front of her, and walks in there.
Sunil never knows she was coming to him.

Why the pin goes wrong
- The address has no shop number, so Google guessed.
- The pin was set years ago, before the shop moved inside the building.
- Someone else put it there, like an old owner or a helper.
- Other apps like Justdial or IndiaMART have their own pin, and nobody checked it.
Step 1: Fix your pin on Google
Google lists these steps (Google):
- Sign in with the Google account that manages your Business Profile.
- Open your profile on Google Search or in the Google Maps app.
- Tap Edit profile, then Location.
- Tap the pencil next to your business location.
- Tap Adjust. Move the map until the pin sits on your door.
- Tap Done, then Save.
The change usually shows in about 10 minutes, but it can take longer (Google).
A good tip: zoom in close. Put the pin on the door customers use, not the back of the building or the middle of the market.
If you moved to a new address, this is different. Google may ask you to verify your business again.
Step 2: If you don't manage the listing
Maybe someone else made your listing and you can't sign in. You can still ask Google to fix the pin. Open the place on Google Maps, tap Suggest an edit, and move the pin (Google Maps help).
It is better to claim the listing, so you control it. Our guide on getting your business online shows how.
Step 3: Check every other app
Customers also find you on Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha, Zomato, Swiggy or your trade's own app. Each one has its own pin.
- Open each app and search for your shop.
- Look at the map. Is the pin on your door?
- If not, sign in to that app's business page and move it. If you can't sign in, use the app's "report a problem" or "edit" option.
- While you are there, check the phone number and address match Google.
What "fixed" looks like
- Stand at your door. Open Google Maps and search your shop name. Tap Directions. It should say you are already there.
- Ask a friend in another area to search your shop and follow the map. They should reach your door, not the next lane.
- Every app shows the same pin, the same address and the same phone number.
Common questions
Will moving the pin change my rating or reviews?
No. Your reviews stay with your profile.
My shop is inside a mall. Where should the pin go?
Put it on the mall entrance closest to your shop. Then add your floor and shop number to the address.
I fixed it but Google still shows the old place. Wait a day. If it still has not changed after a week, open your profile and check if Google sent you a message asking for more details.
Is your pin in the right place on every app? Viabe Pulse checks your map pin on Google and other listings, and shows where it does not match. It also checks your phone number, your reviews, how many photos you have, and how you show up next to shops near you. Scan your business. See how visible you are online.
